Next time you have a hen laying on her nest, Don't go outdoors all the time just to check on them cause i'd do that too and my hen would get mad and break an egg!hit.gif I know you cant wait to see them but it's better not to look.

Some chickens are better than others.  I had one bantam, Lily, hatch five chicks.  She was fine with letting me handle them but another hen was not.  Who knows.

Olive is fine with me handling them. She herself has never pecked me, she is a relaxed hen, laid back. Before she began sitting on any eggs she spent quite some time each day sitting on my front door mat.(Not once using it as a toilet!!) big_smile.png She wouldnt let the cats into the house.

Got to love a hen that is jealous of the other animals!  We joke that my hen, Sophie, would never be able to hatch chicks because she would be jealous of the attention they got! smile.png

Believe your wife!

I, too, I thought I heard peeping and waited to hear it again and I didn't.  Later that day I saw a chick face peeking out from Betty's feathers.

I know how you feel!   I came home from work to find one baby out.  I took off work the whole of next day to watch the rest of them hatch.  I found it so amazing that the eggs I could of eaten for breakfast turned into the cutest, fluffy, balls of feet and beaks!

Please take pictures!
