Gender?

I've learned a lot in the last couple of weeks... I won't tell you how many hours I've spent reading old posts on here! smile.png

So hopefully this is my last gender/breed question for a while!

Everyone thought our Gracie was a Blue Andalusian when I posted pictures ... But just this week, her tail feathers have started to look a little different. She's always seemed to be the dominant one. And she's just as old as the rest (almost 5 months), with a big comb, but hasn't laid any eggs yet (the others have). My hubby is now convinced that SHE is actually a HE.

Thoughts? I have more pictures but I'm waiting on them to make it to my email from my cell phone... they got lost in space somewhere.

That's a pullet. Andalusians have large combs as a breed trait. Your other breeds, as listed in your sig line, are production bred hens, bred to reach maturity early and lay early and often. Your Andy girl will catch up and add some pretty white eggs to your shades of brown.

Well, the kittens aren't so cute anymore and the easter egger cockerels are in the freezer. Plus, I think offering them as "prizes" scared folks off! So, I'm still posting quotes, if you know it let me know. I'm very enamored of this new one, it may hang around for a while!

Yay! Thank you! I've been arguing her case as a girl, but the husband was sure he knew better. wink.png

She IS still bossy, but she's also the smartest so doesn't that sound right? haha... She's always been my favorite, since we picked them out to buy, even, so I hated for her to be misrepresented all this time!

Yup, she looks just like my Blue Andalusion hens/pullets.

I live in Central Maine on a small 1 acre "farm". I have a variety of hens, both standards and bantams. I just got a small incubator and want to start hatching some eggs!
