She brings her dog which I don't particularly like but she just stands outside the fence and talks to her dog about the birds very quietly. Our geese just loved her when we still had them and they didn't like anyone. She sometimes will say hi to our daughter or our son but won't talk to us at all. She seems to really like watching the birds and she isn't hurting anything so we just let her be. I would do the same with your visitor. You might try leaving her a half dozen eggs or something (if you have them) with a note outside the fence. She could just be scared that you'll yell at her or something. Just a thought.

Some people are animal people but not people people.  I know I am.  You don't have to talk to her.  She seems harmless.

That lady would creep me out too.  Experience has taught me to be very cautious of strangers especially ones that won't talk, and ones that ask too many questions.

Maybe you could ask around about her, or talk to the police. Not to cause her trouble but, to mention it.

Most likely she has a history of doing this to other folks too and they would tell you if she is harmless.

I agree that it would be good if you could keep her from seeing in. I would not bring a bird over for her to pet.  She might decide that is just the one she wants.

when this happens to me, I ask if I can help the person. Depending on the respons, is how I approach it. If I hear that I was just looking, then I make them think I am the crazy one in the neighborhood. If they say sorry, I make sure to tell them that is no excuse for stressing my animals and being where they do not belong. I live on the water and the stragglers are always wandering around the place and I run them off probably 3 a week. If you make not nice, they understand not to come back. Any backtalk and I call the police right away and make sure to get a police report with their address on it. This makes them know right away that you now know who they are and they almost never come back. If the police dispatch asks why you need an officer make sure to tell them you think the person may have been casing the place to rob it. They come fairly quickly then.

Sometimes it's hard for "regular" people to realize that autistic children grow into autistic adults. They are often enamored with animals because it is the only way they find acceptance. I think this lady is autistic and needs some friendship. If you aren't willing to befriend her (and possibly have her around a lot) then please just ignore her. Rejecting her may really damage her emotionally. Your puppies probably enjoy the excitement.

Moochie,

When I first moved into this house. I had a little old lady that daily would walk down the street, in front of my house 2 xs a day. She would always stop in front of my house and stare into the yard for a few minutes. I just ignored her at first, but a couple years later I saw her walk into the yard and bend over to pick something up. I saw her do it a few times and started getting concerned. So of course I went to the neighborhood psycho busybodies to find out the scoop on her. Turns out that she lived a couple blocks away. Volunteered at the elementary school every day, and her path to walk to the school passed by my house. By all accounts she was a nice lady. I decided to introduce myself to her, the next time I saw her. I did, and asked her what she was picking up in my yard. She said that she really liked all the work I did in the yard, and was picking up just random leaves and sticks, trying to keep things tidy. I thanked her and told her to pick herself some flowers if she wanted. I never saw her pick any flowers but she continued to walk by and pick up sticks for several more years. She has since passed on; I think about her every time I drive by her house.

I haven't seen her but for sure the next time I see her I'll be friendly and say hello.

Are gopher snakes venomous? I don't think they are but I just had a duck pass away this morning and she had small snake bites on her, 2 of them. I know that the gopher snake has moved near the duck enclosure because on the outer fence of our property there's grasses he's been hanging around. She was fine yesterday, but today she couldn't move at all except for some twitching of her wings, she couldn't eat or drink, I didn't see her poop, right before she died her heart rate was really fast then just stopped, and her eyes were moving side to side really fast.
