"Christmas in July"...WHY?

Thread Starter

What's with this Christmas in July thing? Am

I missing something? One Christmas a year is

enough for me.

How about you? Somethings wrong here...

Am I supposed to run out and buy gifts now?

How come we don't have a "Fireworks in December"?

I think we need a moderator to get to work on this

issue. Write our congressmen, tell them one Christmas

is plenty, we need more fireworks when it isn't so hot

outside.

Spook...watching Christmas shows on the Direct TV channels

he has left.

I don't do Christmas. In December or July. For too many people it's just a big money making guilt trip with a fat man wearing naff red clothes in the starring role. And ironically it has its roots in pagan ceremonies.

Christmas music before Halloween should be a felony, and before Thanksgiving it should be a misdemeanor. As it is, by the time Christmas eventually rolls around my last vestige of Christmas spirit is long gone and the milk of human kindness has curdled in my veins. Like most people, I have a finite Christmas list.  I am not going to buy a second gift for Aunt Helga or Cousin Bob, no matter how early the Christmas shopping season starts.

The obscure we understand eventually.
The obvious takes a little longer.

thumbsup.gif I agree!! There is something wrong with playing Christmas music before Halloween!!! I remember the excitement of seeing all the Christmas decorations being put out after Thanksgiving when I was a kid. There is no magic now for the little ones. My DD takes Christmas for granted. We try to do something for another family or elderly person around Christmas but this year will be hard. I don't believe I have worked a full 40 week since January, due to health problems.  I absolutely HATE that corporations have turned Christmas into a money scheme.  Christmas is about giving and Jesus' rebirth. Not seeing how much money you can spend on everyone.

I lost my love of Christmas long, long ago.  But I've never lost my love for Christ.  I celebrate Christ every day.  And I don't  need somebody to tell me when to celebrate.

It's right up there with Sweetheart's day IMO - just another Hallmark holiday.

Home of the world's cutest dachshund, one crazy blue heeler, two cats,
one fat pony, and many (but not too many!) chickens

Can anyone tell me, how many are too many chickens?
