Colorado

hmmmm. That is a bit of a drive. Not totally out of the question. I could possible do it every couple of three months or so. I have family in Pueblo and could turn it into a long weekend.

I've got some connections in the Greeley area as well. Give me a few days to do a bit of checking and see what I can come up with.

I'd be interested in organic feed. I know of a place in Denver that has started carrying some, but it has soy in it. I'd prefer soy free. Let me know what comes of all of this. We're in the foothills outside of Denver, so everything is a drive for us

No. I just stopped eating wheat and highly processed oils

I also switched from chicken eggs to duck eggs. I still want to avoid grains in my ducks feed. I would like to feed them a diet as close to what they evolved to eat as possible.

Wow--lots of chickens in Colorado!

Does anyone know if there are any barred rock pullets currently available in the front range?

Thanks!

Group buy is an awesome idea. I'm waiting for a group buy to come around where soy free, organic feed with some of the popcorn looking kernals in it can be had for 50 to 65 cents per pound, (cost to my doorstep). I probably shouldn't hold my breath, but as much as I love my chickens I still can't pay a dollar a pound for feed yet.

That's pretty much what this group buy as well as my local source equate to by the time it's in my feed bin. I'm probably going to quit my job in engineering and start a Whole Foods for Chickens somewhere along the front range. I'll continue the search.. it's probably futile at this point, my own requirements are just something that's in a different league than the layena pellets my chickens are on now. That stuff almost looks like small turd under the right light.

I need some advice from the CO crew. I just finished enlarging my banty run today, and my next project is building a bigger run for my standard girls. We're in the foothills outside of Denver, so with our array of predators I've put bird netting over both runs. So far it's worked great!! My new run will be too big for bird netting. Should I leave it open or figure out a way to enclose it?

Thanks,
Sonja

That's what I was thinking. Thank you for helping me make up my mind. I'll figure something out, I'm the queen of rigging stuff to make runs work

!! Are there any critters that make good hawk defenders?
