Just went tonite and picked up 8 little roosters...

I am new to this.

Want to let them out during day to free range, eat grasshoppers, etc

And put up to roost at night.

They are 4-5 months old.

They are so darned cute.

I also have a easter egger hen and a barred rock rooster...they are a couple....lol

Also have a light sussex pair

and

a 2 month rooster

and a 2 and 1/2 month rooster.

Loving life ! Having fun !

12 roosters and 2 hens?  I predict excitement in the future.

The idea is...that I will let the roosters out during the day and put them up at night.

And/or let different groups out at different times.

Hey what was that noise ? I think I just heard people laughing.

lol

Wish the newbie luck on her adventure.

I have no motive.

Do not want eggs. Do not want chicken meat.

Just a hobby is all.

It sounds like you are planning to have the new roosters free ranging  much of the time and not have access to the hens who each have their own rooster to look after them.  I have almost as many roosters as hens, but it can take some extra effort to manage them.  I have a bachelor coop for some of them to make sure they don't stress the hens out.

Oops,  I was writing this just as you were posting...

Good luck.  I do enjoy my roosters.  Only one of mine is a kicker, but I have learned to deal with him pretty well and he is good with the hens.

That is exactly what I am going to try to do.

The lady I got the 8 new roosters from was letting them out in the morning and calling "Chick, chick, chick" at nightfall and luring them back in with hot dog buns...lol.

I love birds.

I used to have an Amazon parrot who was my baby. Until I had three human babies. Then unfortunately he had to go. Way too aggressive and strong beaked to have around children. And unpredictable.

We have a lovebird that is about 20 years old.

My husband grew up helping his grandfather raise parakeets.

So, we both love birds.

And my three little boys ages 5, 8 and 11 LOVE animals.

And we can't have 14 dogs.

Well.....we could. LOL
