Tomorrow is day 10 for the BBS,7 for LO's and 6 for BBsso want  to candle.

My incubator with  LOts of eggs in it seems to have an "egg" smell.

My other with less seems to  have no smell but this big hatch is the first time i had so many in at once. Wonder if this smell is normal  for 30+ eggs in there ?Any body know ?  .Hope i dont have a stinker working.

I have been so pleased with my temps and humidity  now close to half way thru . I have a little vary in the Hovabator  again but less than before the closet.. but the Genesis i am SO glad i bought it.

It holds the temp so well i dont think it has gone  over or under  99.5 -100  even  2 tenths of a degree either way and the temps here have been so hot 105-107 out   that the house isnt staying that cool but still it seems to compensate well. They are in a closet  with the doors cracked a few inches so if it goes to 100.1 i open the closet doors so it gets a little more cool air and i have the vent plug out.Been great.

LOVE it Well worth the extra money .(didnt get the turner)

.Unless  something  goes wrong (power outage)i cant blame it on my temp and humidity if my hatch is bad.. fl.gif

Last time I incubated some eggs and had an "egg smell" I did have a bad egg in the bunch. If you check each one by hand & nose! you should be able to determine which one/s smell like "egg". After I removed that one egg the smell in the incubator went away almost immediately.

Hope this helps!

Well, I was out of town for four days and just got back. Today is day 11 (so about the half way point), I candled my broodies two white eggs and they are both looking great. Can't wait until they hatch :D

I've got 2 cats, Dyllen and Star. I have 17 chickens; 3 BLRW, 3 mutts, 2 EEs, 2 White Rock roosters, 1 RIR, 1 White Leghorn, 1 Red Star, 1 Golden Campine, 1 unknown hen, 1 Partridge cochin, and 1  Golden Polish. I also have 1 Swedish/Black Indian Runner laying on 8 eggs.

When did you set? And what are they again?

I just did my first candling. I am on day 8. For the first time EVER I kept every egg. I couldn't believe it. I had one culled out, and after I looked at all the others I put it back on the light and it was moving. I'm stoked!

I set on the 15th at my time :) They're lovely quail eggs. I had 7 but one is infertile and one didn't really develop and stopped

Today I saw 2 of them moving :) I hope the other 3 move soon! I put a tissue paper underneath them to stop the turner from turning them but will turn the other 3 :D SO EXCITED

I just candled 3 of the 8. One looked like a dud but I will give it the benefit of the doubt for now. One had development and I think it moved. big_smile.png. The last one, and the only Silkie egg I could reach, was WAY ahead of the other two. I could see the eye and the shadow/outline of a body! It was small, but there!

Now just to wait another two weeks.., roll.png
