Hi everyone, I'm a little late but would like to join.

This is my 3&4 time hatching.  I set the first batch on the 14th, but half the shipped eggs were broken. So they sent me more and the second set  were set on the 21st.

So I should have a couple of fluffy chirpers this week and one with all you.

1 quarter horse, 1 tuxedo cat, 1 siberian hamsters, 3 dogs, 1 hermit crab, 7 freshwater fish, 5 Brahma chickens, 2 showgirl chickens, 9 silkies, 7production chickens, 12 to be determined bantam chicks, 2 pekin ducks and 1 swedish duck....I should hatch a partridge for the pear tree to round it off.

I raised the humidity to about 50%. The air cells certainly look bigger than before i started, but I don't really know if it is the right size for the incubation period. As I read that weight is the most reliable measure, I weighed the eggs before I set them. I incubated dry because the ambient room temperature is about 50% so I thought that was enough. I guess the heat in the incubator dries the air more than expected. I am keeping my fingers crossed that these eggs are still viable.

ep.gif I could just rip my hair out right now... I have 2 bators going And 1 is in lock down... the other is following with you guys..set on The 16th... arggggggg

I woke up to 32 degree  C in the ones set On the 16th somad.gif

and 36 degrees  C on the  LOCKDOWN BATOR  <---not so bad

I have them hooked to one of those back up battery/ surge protector dohickies...  I don;t know what happened...but it turned off.

Now I am so upset...  I am Already doomed With overheated shipped Eggs...th.gif

So I am hatching MORE EE this month..lol

currently have too many EE...

Sorry guess i am dumb but what is the conversion of 32C and 36C to Farenheit?

i would like  to know what you are up against.

Not trying to be dense

.I do commiserate with you though as it must be bad if the surge protector turned off. Yikes!!BUT I read that A STUDY showed if the eggs were not heated even  up to  6 hours  it was actually GOOD for the  them as  the hen gets off them sometimes for that long and there is a 1-2% better hatch rate wit hthe cooling inteval Said Brinsea. has made their newest incubator where you can turn off the heat for periods of time.  So maybe not the end of the world especially for the ones that have been in longer.

I wouldnt give  up hope at all.  Did they feel warm still? Just wondered GOOD LUCK!!

The weigh they say is the VERY  best but i have also read the air cell is the most important as the chick has to have room to breath but  not  dry up  but not drowned either. so the practical side.I do have a questionYou are SURE they are 20 % at this time and its the wrong %?

Also i tried "dry" last hatch and thought i did  it well 22-35% anfd then 65% .My room humidity was also 50%.I shrink wrapped the few viable  eggs  I had according to the Hovabator trouble shooter. One pipped but never hatched the other 2 nothing. but were full grown in the eggs day 18. The temp stayed pretty perfect so had to be humidity

i have heard  dry hatdh works  REALLY well for a lot of ppl but didnt for me at all.

Now i am doing 40-50 this time. Will see how works!!.  GOOD LUCK and keep us posted!

There was a site on BYC that showed the size  of the air cell for different times in the hatch or you might find it on the web itself.Compare. Lots of info out there.

HI

very late to this conversation I see but I set mine on the 16th.  This is my second hatch.  Only three eggs viable and good from a hen I recently lost so really hoping for them to hatch.  They are Blue Laced Red Wyandottes and I only have my rooster of that kind left so.....fingers crossed.

I too lost a bit too much weight upon weighing at around day 7/8 like Urban Mama - raised humidity but all looks OK as far as air cell and veins and movement.
