Newbie just getting started from Ontario

Hello all,

So far I am very impressed at how everyone on this site comes together to help out one another. I'm at the state of researching the kind of breed I want. I'm just looking for a couple good egg layers. I live in an urbanized city, but we are allowed chickens....with some strict by-laws. Excited to learn all I can on raising chickens.

Thanks for having me

Hi and welcome-byc.gif

Glad to have you here!
I live in a city, and we keep red stars for eggs. They are very good layers and pretty friendly... and spirited. lol.png
A lot of people like buff orpingtons for a friendly breed, especially if you've got kids. Barred rocks and RIRs are also common breeds you could try.

Good luck and I hope you find all the info you need here. big_smile.png

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan big_smile.png

Home of the world's cutest dachshund, one crazy blue heeler, two cats,
one fat pony, and many (but not too many!) chickens

Can anyone tell me, how many are too many chickens?
