Help Please!!!!! My Silkie is paralysed!!!!! UPDATED!! VIDEO!!! - Page 6

So Juicy is looking ok today, still limping on the leg, but she has not gotten worse.  Yesterday she ate a ton of feed and fell asleep.  Other than a limp she seems fine though.  Do you think its safe to take myself off quarentine?  No other chicks have shown any issues at all.  Im starting to think she jut hurt herself somehow.

If it was Mareks wouldnt she be much worse by now?

She definitely favors the leg.  Its like its in the ankle or something.  She will walk on the heal of the foot, but tipping forward and bending the ankle seems to upset her and cause her to stumble.  Ive pulled her out and worked the limb and ankle and she doesnt complain though.  

Do silkies often have trouble with thier ankles because of the extra toes?  She has huge kankles comparted to my other silkie.  Very wide at the ankle.  Her 5th digets are very rigid.  Maybe thats what happened?  maybeo one of those got pulled or bent?  Like i said though, she doesnt complain when probed.  Of course Ive seen people operate on birds without a peep.

Heres a video about someones silkie with a bad leg.  I had to skip forward to 4:30 to get a good eye on the bird while it walked.  Its pretty close to how my silkie walks, though a bit more drastic.  this one has lots of obstacles to move over.  In the beginning mine stumbled and was unsure on her feet, but now its more of a tender footed limp.  As i said before she will stand on it to scratch her head with her good foot, but she does not seem to want to bend the ankle.

When i type in "limping silkie"  I get a LOT of results with similar symptoms.

Thats what Im thinking too because I cant feel any heat, nor cant I feel and breaks.  There is no swelling either.  She just light foots it around the cage.

lol thats not my bird, thats just one like her, acting like her.  I needed an example cuz I dont ahve a camera to take video.

But yes she is confined.  She is getting all the food she can eat, and Im giving her Polyvisol once daily.  She also gets antibiotics and vitamin booster in her water, the vet suggested that for her along with the Poly.  

Today I put him (I think its a boy because he has some red in his comb) in my lap and started massaging his leg.  Well every time I ran my thumb over the outside feathers of his leg, he would chirp and yank away.  Now the folicles of the feathers are very thick and hard.  Im wondering if they are becoming sore or growing wrong as he puts his foot down.  He really got upset when i touched him or smoothed the feathers.  They are his little boot feathers just above his ankle.

Nope that wasnt it, he doing it on both legs now, one forward and one back...the strong leg is now starting to get a mind of its own and sliding backwards....Im compiling a video to see if you guys can see what Im trying to convey.  Hes not cooperating very well for the camera.

My wonderful DH set it up for me.  Its a bit shaky and the it has a bit of glare.  The first few seconds really shows how shaky he is.  After a few minutes though he stopped doing his leg back thing and would not perform for the camera...go figure.  You can really see it though in the first few seconds as he walks toward the far wall, then turns around and tries to run back past the waterer.  Its the best I can do since he acts like Im a big bad wolf!

Thats Stumpy in the brooder with him.  Dont worry, hes not stuck under the roost bar, he just likes to sit there for some reason....maybe its because its by the food.

I really need to know if its Meraks.  If it is, Im going to cull and sanitise.

He is 6-8 weeks old, no other symptoms, just the leg problems.  He is on vitamins and antibiotics.  He gets medicated chick starter.  He has not come into contact with anything different than any of the other chicks.  The brooder is filled with shavings.  The waterer is cleaned every morning.  All the chicks have all been fed, handled and treated the same.  No symptoms are in any of the other chicks.  The others are real close to the same age.  All but Stumpy have come from the same breeder.  The breeder is not currently having any issues with any of her flock or chicks.  Her adult flock free ranges with turkeys.  The chicks have only been outside once, about 2 weeks ago on the lawn for about 3 minutes each.  They ate nothing.  I have not gone to the feed store since getting these chicks, so i doubt i would ahve tracked anything back on my clothing or shoes.  I dont know or visit any other chicken owners.
