Newbie needs help finding chicks in Allier, France.

Hello, I need help in finding some (6 maybe) chicks for my new place in Allier France.

Ive built a coop and a large chicken run , and just finished an electrically controlled incubator.

Ive been given (from our local farmer) a supply of food for the chicks and everything is ready, but buying from a market seems a bit risky (dont know where the birds come from etc) Im English and not too sure of the rearing methods here.

Can anyone in the Allier region help nwith suggestions? Like what kind of breed toexpect, what should I buget on, and where to get them from.

I need hens for eggs, not table, and a cock as I woulod like to rear my own in the future

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Sorry my Francais c'est pas bon

I would go with the market. and ask them where they come from. if there is no other choice.

I have 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 goats, 2 barred rock females, too many to count roo br, 5 golden sebrights, 4 silkies, 1 silkie pekin mix, i think, 4 welsummers, 4 red stars, 1 rhode island red, 1 tetra tint, 4 partridge rock, and 3 unknown.

Hi, welcome to the forum.

A while back someone one BYC was working on a French site for chickens.  Here is the link: http://www.les-poules.com/

I hope you can set your browser to translate, but you may have better luck finding local resources.

CHICKENS:to name just a few cochin, orpington,  OEG  also have: mute swans, geese, and cats
