New BYC Features & Updates - New Image Uploader - Social Media & Sharing Buttons - Page 7

I completely uninstalled flash using Adobe's uninstaller. Restarted the computer and reinstalled flash.

There was no change in the problem with Chrome. Whenever I click the "Picture" icon, I still get the popup box okay, but when I click the "My Computer" button, nothing happens.

No big deal for me, I can just use FireFox to upload pics. But i kinda like chrome better. whine.

Thanks for working on it - I'm sure you'll get the issue hammered out soon.

mendocinosunris , does the flash plugin in Google Chrome read like:

b9d54e6e_GoogleChromea.jpeg

Try uninstalling Google Chrome and then reinstalling latest ver. (should install Flash plugin by default) and check the plugin folder after doing so.

Good luck!

Great troubleshooting everybody!

Ivan has posted some good suggestions and ideas in this thread, but I don't know that you shouldn't need to reinstall Chrome, and I'd worry you might loose settings, etc.

Have you tried disabling all of your browser plugins temporarily to see if that helps?

I am having trouble uploading picture.  I hit picture button as instructed.  It brings up the box my computer I click that button.  Then it sits with a circle going around and around.  I have Windows XP.  I tried on my lap top and does the same thing.  I logged off shut down BYC.  Shut down computer and restarted still does the same thing.  I walked away for half hour and it was still sitting with circle going around.  I tried putting My Pictures in URL, still wouldn't work.

Any advise.  I'm sorry you have a computer illiterate G-Ma here.

I also have a virus protector just off the internet.  Think it is called Microsoft Security

Close, but not quite. Mine shows 2 files instead of 3, and the version is slightly different.

I'll play around with it a bit longer & see what happens.

Did you do this?

You can use this tool to see which version of Flash you have installed on your computer.  Specifically look for the version under step 2 of this page

If you don't have Flash installed or if you have a very old version, that may be what's causing your problem.

Here's where you get flash :  http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

I am sorry I am no wiz and I cant uninstall and reinstall flash. It says I have to disable stuff and what not and I have no idea what anybody is talking about. Even if I did reinstall it I doubt it will work per other customer.   I just truly cannot figure computers out and don't have the money to take in in to get worked on.

eta: I am sure there are many who are having problems but just are not reporting it.

Woot! Uploaded a pic with chrome - no errors!

I tinkered around with enabling/disabling plugins - nothing changed the symptoms.

So I decided to do as you suggested & uninstall/reinstall Chrome.

It's okay, Nifty. I have a bachelor's in IT - which means I can destroy a computer faster and badder than most. big_smile.png

When Chrome reinstalled, it looks like it reinstalled a SLIGHTLY OLDER version of flash:

Flash Version: 11.3.300.268
Shockwave Flash 11.3 r300
Name: Shockwave Flash
Description: Shockwave Flash 11.3 r300
Version: 11.3.300.268
Location: /Applications/Google Chrome.app/Contents/Versions/21.0.1180.57/Google Chrome Framework.framework/Internet Plug-Ins/Flash Player Plugin for Chrome.plugin
Type: NPAPI
  Disable
MIME types:
MIME type Description File extensions
application/x-shockwave-flash Shockwave Flash
.swf
application/futuresplash FutureSplash Player
.spl

I'll go through & do a few more test uploads to see if it works everywhere.

Even the geese are happy.
