My last duck egg- will it hatch?!

Hey I have one last living duck egg, candled them yesterday and found that the other one had died a few days ago, but I understand why it did cause it had always been wayyyy to small to live, only taking up about 1/2 of the egg or less on day 24 while the other took up 3/4 of it. I started with 3 duck eggs but one was infertile. Now I have one left and it goes into lockdown today. The temp in my homemade still air incubator is usually 99-100F and every once and a while 97 or 102. I keep the humidity between 60-75% and spray the incubator often. Will my little egg hatch? I'm desperate cause this is the only one.

I have had just 1 out of a batch of eggs hatch a couple times. The duckie will probably be pretty lonely & want LOTS of attention if it is the only hatchling tho. Mine all ended up in with older or younger chicks & ducklings pretty quick since I run a constant staggered hatch.

Thanks do much! I'm thinking about getting him a "ducken" for a buddy if he hatches. I just really hope he does- I've been looking forward to raising a duckling. The temp has been a bit low though- so he might hatch late. Is it ok to put a ducken in with a duck? Are they more chicken or more duck?

A ducken is half chicken half duck. This one in particular that I might get is half Ameraucana and half Rouen duck, and the duck egg is a Rouen duck. I just took out 3 of the eggs that I gave up on- no tapping, no movement, and in one case an air sac in the wrong place. I broke them open to see how far they got before they died, and they were all small (about 1/2 of the egg was them and the rest was yolk) obviously they weren't alive cause it's the end of day 25. They had feathers, though. And the yolk was about as big if not bigger than they were. When did they stop developing? (these are chicken eggs, by the way.) and I did the same with the dead duck egg (which I confirmed was dead befor I broke it) and it was TINY and the yolk was about 3X its size and the chick was small (especially for a 25-day-old) and looked more like a 16-day-old, but I don't know when exactly this happened. I left 2 chicken eggs in the incubator and 1 duck egg (it's day 25 for all of them). Will the chicks hatch? Will my one remaining duck hatch? Should I remove the chick eggs? I had 2 chicks hatch a couple days ago but none since. I'm really concerned about them but I don't want to put my duck egg in danger. hmm.png

I checked on the "ducken" thing & from what I saw it isn't a real animal. Are you sure someone isn't sending you on a snipe hunt here...

As for the chicken eggs, have you candled them...(sorry, some of my keys aren't working) If you have & still see movement then let them keep going. They may still have a chance if your temps have been running low. As for the ducks, they require a bit higher humidity for hatch than the chicks, so your chicks are in more danger than the ducks if you get the humidity up for the ducks.

Hmmm No, duckens are real- the people I got all my eggs from have some themselves and they lay camo-green eggs. in fact, they had some ducken eggs in the incubator at their place that should be hatched by now- I just gotta go ask if they have hatched. I'll post a pic if they do. Hiw high do the duck's humidity have to be? Maybe I can separate the eggs... Or maybe I should just give up on the chicken eggs... I've already got 2 chicks and any chicks that would be hatching now would be very weak... It's just such a hard choice for me... :,(

I usually pip the end of the egg on any that go more than 2-3 days over, but I'm impatient. I like to make sure whether the baby is still alive or not because I always need the extra bator space if it isn't.

You... Pip the egg? Do you mean you actually make the hole at for it?
