With several comments about finding it hard to obtain good quality Brabanters, has anyone purchased from Sandhill? Where have you found good quality stock? If our town changes it's regs, this is...
First, watching a runner duck run is awesome. They can find their own food. They aren't like pekins in water. Mine haven't started laying but I heard their decent.
When should I pip the duck egg? How long should I give it after the hatch date this time? I want to get this right. is it ok to candle it around this time to make sure it's ok?
Since you think temp is low I would leave it alone. It needs to be around 98F at hatch or baby will overheat & die. I would let duckie go to at least day 30 before pipping it unless you hear peeping for 8 hours or more & no external pip. If you have candled & saw movement then I would say duckie has a good chance at this point.
Ok thank you! I will leave my duck alone and keep the temp and humidity at what it is now. I did see movement on day 25 so I think he's still alive. Ill post the results if it hatches
Hey- i fell asleep at around 8ush and woke up at 9:47 and my incubator temp was at 106. I paniced cause I though my egg had overheated, but it was alive and breaking through the air sac. IS IT GONNA BE OK?!
