Who else is setting eggs this week ?! :D - Page 2

When I bought eggs from the Amish, I just asked if they have rooster running with their hens. I bought over 100 eggs and 80 hatched.

Ha ha ha! I think we got our eggs from the same auction lau.gif

I just set mine about half an hour ago, but I think that my digital thermometer is already on the way out! I just used it one other time. I've set up 12 eggs

4 Frizzle Standard Cochins
1 Lavender Orpingtion
2 Easter Egger
1 Lavender Ameruacana
4 Milie Fleur D'uccle

Hopefully I get something out of them! My last hatch [1st hatch] yielded a 36% success rate :/ Hopefully I get some pretty babies from this one!

The fertile bullseye, huh, I am trying to think of a way to describe the size that works. It is small, smaller than a pea, but not as tiny as the infertile dot. Maybe if you want a reaaallly good comparison, buy a half dozen eggs from the store that you know aren't fertile, and look at those. At least you'll have plenty of eggs cracked open for a good scramble, hah!

If you see a tiny, very white dot as you described, it is definitely not fertile. But those 'doughnuts' you are seeing, bingo! Those are fertile.

I also bought eggs from the same seller. 8 BBS Cochins, 2 Lavender Orphingtons, and 2 Lavender Ameracuanas. I just got mine today and will be putting them in Thursday or Friday. I will keep posting on this thread to let yall know how the hatch turns out. Good luck.

Wow this seller is really active... Do you refrigerate them until you're ready to put them in?
