I'm getting a Goldendoodle! Please share your pics and stories!

I don't, but they are very popular around here. I absolutely love every one of the ones I've met in the area. I am not a big golden lab or retriever person, but I'm finding I really like what happens when poodle is added. X). They vary a lot in looks, but the ones I've seen personally have all been very smart, friendly, and joyful dogs.


The seven weeks of age worries me a bit, unless I misread that and you meant a week plus seven. I believe 8 weeks is generally considered the youngest a pup should go to a new home. I don't know though as ive only ever had an older pup as a family dog, and then adopted adults so far. Something to look into.

in most states, it's illegal to sell a pup before 8 weeks.  So I'd be wary of breeders who cut corners.

Also, be aware that there can be VAST differences in the -doodle dogs (I won't say breed because it's not one).     depending on the type of poodle used, they can vary from 10-15 lbs to 80lbs +.   They might just need grooming like a poodle or they might shed like a golden (and that means a LOT!).  Even in the same litter the pups can be completely different.    

We have 2 in our dog club, littermates.  They are completely opposite in looks and personality.

 

If you are paying more than the local animal shelter charges and the parents don't have hip and elbow scores that you can verify, then walk away.    

sorry if it sounds like I'm raining on your parade.   I just hate to see someone who is excited to add a new member to their family being taken advantage of.   There are a few EXTREMELY rare breeders in the US who are working to produce healthy -oodle mixes.    Most, unfortunately, take any dog they can get their hands on and breed it to any poodle they can get their hands on.   By default, those people aren't dealing with the best and healthiest of stock because good breeders would never sell a puppy or stud a dog to anyone who planned to make cross-breeds.   

 

They are well-meaning but uninformed at best and con artists at worst.

We have a goldendoodle and he is great, but when little they can be crazy and most people ive talked too who have had or have a goldendoodle say that they get car sick when little and thats what happened to ours, but he got over it.

His name is Scout!!!
