I would suggest you to try Toltrazuil & amprolium to treat Coccidiosis. They are good meds for Cocci.

Can the other chickens eat it? Should I let the ones exhibiting symptoms sleep with the other ones? The poor babies are crying because they want to sleep with the others.

If some ad it they all have it... You might as well mix them together i it makes them happier... They should ALL be medicated it takes 4-5 days to start showing symptoms. Get any meds used for cocci, sulmet (I dont recommend it, corid (its usually used for cattle but can be used for chickens) or Toltrazuil (ive never used it but sounds good) I use Gallimycin.

I'm asking my dad to pick up something at TSC tomorrow. I need to know what is safe for all of them to eat and what would be the best. I won't be home tomorrow from 9-4. I really need ti figure out exactly what I need to do and I dedinately will do anything they need.

We posted at the same time, so I didn't see your post. What would be the absolute best thing to give them?

Ive read that slugs and worms can carry Cocci.  Corid works best for a bad infestation, DE is more of a preventative if you believe it works for the parasite.  First thing in the morning as soon as the store opens its doors, get in there and get the corid!!  Medicated chick starter works for chicks still able to eat.

Hope you catch it fast!!  hugs.gif

1 Blue JG and 1 Black JG, 1 black Americauna, 1 penciled Americauna, 1 Penciled Rock.  1 Cornish chick, 5 Sussex, 8 mix chicks, and one wild kitty!

10 meaties on the way, 2 red layers and 10 in the incubator.  Chicken Math strikes again!

The Rooster may crow, but it is the Hen that delivers the goods!

Thank you! TSC opened at 8:00 and my dad will be there around 8:30. I will tell him to get Corid and DE, treatment for the sick ones and prevention for the healthy onez. Can I give corid to the entire flock? (:

I think I might know how my birds contracted this. We bought cherries from Walmart because my pap likes them and he found a worm in a couple of them so guess what he does... feeds them to the chickens!! I always tell him if its not safe for humans, don't feed it to the chickens! The worms in the cherries could've carried cocci and then the chickens ate the parasite. Geez. He said yesterday that there was nothing wrong with them and it was just because of the heat. He will not listen to me. He also hatched a chick that was pipped too early because "it was struggling" and "the membrane was too hard". It was underdeveloped and died last night. hmm.png
