Really gross looking bug! *Warning Its Disgusting*

OH Cicadas, when we get total invasions of the 17 yr. cicadas - the noise is deafening. They'd say on the news that one hour of continuous exposure to their "singing" could cause permanent hearing loss. They carried on even into the night. I'm thinking I will probably only see them once more in my lifetime, so now they seem like harbingers of death. I Hate them.

You cannot walk without a few of them flying into you - the air traffic is so congested with them. If they land on you and you try to knock them off they "scream," The only thing that helps me get thru it is finding the happy couples at" play," then I get to stomp on two of them with one shoe. Ha ha great feeling, two less of billions of them.

What I learned last time they visited is that a special parasitic mite feeds on them. When the cicadas where gone after 6 or 8 weeks, the mites were still looking for them. They didn't intend to bite humans but, they had to taste them to be sure they weren't big cicadas I guess. Tons of people were getting red spots and itching like crazy- what a curtain call. On top of that we were having a very hot summer and tons of rain- ugh!

I don't know if you get this kind but, there are also the 13 yr. cicadas and the 7 year, and some that are out every year but not in the numbers or noise of the 17 year flock. We are pretty much surrounded by forest preserve so had no escape from them.

I had to look because I couldn't imagine a gross/disgusting bug unless it was smashed.

Cicadas are kind of like chickens in that they seem a leftover of the dinosaur ages.

That's just a cicada ._. Don't be freaked out, they are ALL OVER where I live around fall/spring. Rarely summer and never winter.
