Whole corn sprouts well too, but I'm not sure of the nutritional value of it.

I enjoy sprouting. smile.png

I use several ways.

A 4 tier sprouter, stacked on top one another

A mason jar topped with milk nut bag

Or planting in dirt(not my favorite)

I like the 4 tier sprouter or mason jar. I use milk nut bags too.

The only thing that molds is sunflower seeds. I guess you can sprout them without the hulls.

Thanks for the info, and the link I was just asking what the heck are milk nut bags. LOL I like the sprouting 4 teir thing, I just bought some sprouts at the store they were on special to see if my flock would eat them, it was so funny when i put them down they all came around and looked at them like what the heck does she expect us to do with them? well I finally went into the house thinking they won't eat them, 30 min. later went back out there wasn't a trace left. So some one got up the courage to try them. smile.png

Nicole thanks for the sprouting info.

I have on and off over the years sprouted seeds for eating.

Most corn won't sprout because its hybrid or GMO.
I tried sprouting some whole oats and it must be heat treated or something because it wouldn't sprout, nor would the milo I tried to sprout

although I have had some spilled whole oats grow before so not sure what to think.

Does anybody know how long it takes to sprout oats.

I wonder if geese would eat sprouted beans?

Strange. I buy my wheat, oats that was mixed with corn from a nearby mill and it all sprouts beautifully. It's 13.95-14.95 for a 50# bag. It takes one day for any of the sprouts to sprout including alfalfa. I bought my alfalfa online last winter.

Here are my seeds. Wheat, oats(with corn) and alfalfa

Oats are next on my list to try. I planted a 2-row barley to go with our hops, but it never came up.

We sprout lentils in the house during the winter. Never have a problem with mold unless I forget to rinse them for a couple days.

I want to try it next time with a drop of oxine in the water to see what happens.
