Starting our Urban Coop in Vegas

We've just hatched our coop plans though they've been brooding for some time (Terribly sorry for the god-awful puns but...).

There is currently a debate brewing in our house as to whether we will be getting Seramas or Silkies/Sizzles or both. Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated (husband says Seramas, I say Silkies or Sizzles - for all we know we can have both together).

I've been an avid reader of this site for so long now. I'm thrilled to now be am actual participant!

Silkies can't fly away from hawks and can't see that well either. (Just a reminder, I see quite a bit of people posting about missing Silkies).

Welcome to BYC! I hope you and your husband come to an agreement. frow.gif

It's the shape that makes the breed, and the color that makes the variety.

Thanks so much for your reply. Our coop is/will be fully enclosed but that's definitely something to consider.

Hello and welcome to BYC frow.gif You should have a look at the Breeds section, see what the members say about the different breeds, pros and cons.

Interesting. I note, in the Silkie thread, that a lot of folks have their 'hair trimmed'. Could she actually maybe have an eye issue? To me, this sort of thing makes her all the more endearing smile.png
