Think it's a leghorn mix.... need someone to confirm this!

This is Laker, my *leghorn mix* rooster. He is about.... 3 months old?

He was hatched in a classroom at my school, he couldn't get out of his egg so kindergardners tried helping him out of his egg. Then after he was taken out, they gave him to my middle school science teacher, and he nursed Laker back to health. He has part of the egg shell permamently fused into his head. But he's fine! Now, I'm not sure if this is a leghorn, or a leghorn mix. He is starting to get rusty feathers, and he has a sort of wyandotte's pattern on his chest. Came out of a white egg.

Your text color is too difficult to read.

Well, the kittens aren't so cute anymore and the easter egger cockerels are in the freezer. Plus, I think offering them as "prizes" scared folks off! So, I'm still posting quotes, if you know it let me know. I'm very enamored of this new one, it may hang around for a while!

Sorry, I don't know enough about leghorns to answer your question, but that's an interesting story about the egg shell on his head smile.png

Probably a leghorn mix. this is one I had, he was a leghorn/red star cross. He was white at first, but slowly got these brown patches.

I really don't know other than to say, I think it's a Leghorn mix like mine.  This is Melody and yours is colored very similarly to her.  This is the best picture I got of her before she was killed last week.  She had the same coloring on her neck and back...she was solid yellow as a chick.  The Mixed Pullet bin at TSC said she could be a Tetra Tint, but I really don't know for sure...

Started our first flock of 12 on 3/4/2012 with lots of learning and loss.  Our Current flock of 14 - 1 Jersey Giant rooster, 1 Tetra Tint, 1 White Leghorn, 1 Buff Orpington, 2 OEGB/Silkie mixes added 8 new chicks this spring: 1 Barred Rock, 1 Red Sex Link, 1 Black Sex Link, 1 Black Cochin, 1 RIR, 1 Silver-laced Wyandotte, and 2 Easter Eggers.
