I hope there is a duck pro that can help me out.
I have 2 beautiful pekins a little over a month old. Both are very sweet! Of course they have both imprinted on me.
My problem: They have a big yard for free ranging with lots of shade, grass, bugs, duck pool, duck feed and comfy spots to sleep. They love it....as long as I'm out there with them. When I go in the house they come to the door and raise loud heck to come in. I have no choice but to let them in because I don't want neighbors complaining about the noise. They waddle in right to their bathroom (where they sleep at night) and will stay in there quietly alone.
Sooooooo....why are they happy alone with each other in the bathroom but not outdoors?
Is there anything I can do to make them more comfortable alone outside? My plan was to build a nice pen for them to sleep in out there when they are a little older but I'm afraid they are going to want to stay in the bathroom.
The reason I got 2 of them was so they would have each other when I couldn't be with them.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
p.s. I've been reading here for a long time before signing up. I thank all the regulars that have given such great info here. Before my pekins I rescued 4 wild mallard ducklings to adults and thanks to this board it was a success!
