Purchased the coop unfinished, built the run, it's completely hardware meshed, top to bottom.

Really nice coop & run.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner! We used sweet pdz over a spare box of laminate tiles we found. It's worked amazingly well all summer and there's NO smell!! I go through it with a kitty fine scoop or hand held spaghetti strainer once a week or two. I just add a little more when it looks low. I've only bought about 50 pounds total and still have 1/2 a bag left. So it is pretty cheap to do The run has a mix of sand and pdz and regular old dirt and I throw in tall grass clippings. They seems to enjoy that, though we let them free range as much as possible! I rake the run out when I notice it looks yucky or damp and throw a couple sand pails full of sand/pdz. We did try food garage DE but it was SO dusty my eyes would hurt. I really can't say enough about the pdz!
I see you use the sand method. Which sand do you use (sandbox river etc?) and how often do you swap out?
Beautiful coop !
