seem like a good breed, if i had the room i would probably raise a batch of them they seem like they would be a good 4h starter show bird...considering i dont see many of this breed in my class...

I am a first time chicken owner, and today, I get to have a fresh egg for breakfast for the first time! I was so excited I woke my boyfriend up to show him, posted it to Facebook, and now here as well, lol. I was starting to think it would never happen!

I think my Barred Rock is the responsible party, she was still hanging in the nest box when I found this.

Brand new to urban chicken keeping in 2012. Currently mother hen to Beyonce (Silkie mix), Lucille Bawk (RIR), Bernadette Peepers (BR), and finally, an EE named Goldie Hen.

Lovely! I just got my first eggs too, it's so exciting!

Mother to two beautiful children DD 3yo and DS 1yo. Plus 3 red stars 1 light Brahma and 2 silkies!

I assume she is an adult you got recently since that is a LARGE egg?? I can remember my 1st chickens first eggs(plural because had a few pullets at the time) and the eggs were tiny and it made me worry something was wrong with my girls.Took them a few trys to produce larger eggs.
