I had just gotten 4-6 wk old chicks and I was wondering how to tell the difference between male and female. I really want some hens. Is there a way to look at the feather growth or something? I could really use some help.

What breed are those chicks? I hve a hen thatis older with same markings as your red/white one. No clue on breed, and I have some hen and rooster chicks like your black, I was told cochin mix. I hatched them from eggs so it's hard to go by what people say when they have more then one breed and are guessing their breed the eggs are.
The first one is a buff laced brahma I think. The others are silkies. What kind of comb is your black chicks getting? Silkies have a walnut comb. My black ones I tried determining a week ago and then now at 5 weeks old the boys combs are getting bigger. Need a front pic of your red/white chick to see it's comb.

Hmmm....Could they be frizzles? Are their feathers curlyish or soft and fuzzy?
