can you use white leg horn females enstead of the rhode island whites with the rhode island red male and still get the day old sexing. like you would with the RIW pullet and RIR roo.

Main interest Blue Wheaten, Wheaten, Black , and Lavender Ameraucana. Im also working with Crested Cream Legbars.

NO... because they have ER and dominant white which are dominant to what RIR have

Ok i think i get it now. are there other combinations of breeds that make sex links that people just dont use becaues the egg production cant match the GSL or BSL.

long ago I was using a fibromelanotic roos mated to white leghorns to make sex links, but the firbromelanotic birds were not very productive at all, this could be a cool progect if one can get a fibromelanotic line of leghorns, that way you just mate a production type fibromelanotic leghorn to a production type white leghorn and be able to sex the chicks at hatch..
