when will he start breeding

I recently aquired 6 four month old pullets (4 BO pullets, 2 aracauna pullets), 1 six month old BO cockerel and 2- 1.5 year old white leghorn hens.  I have had chickens but never had a roo before.

The hens are laying.  I have seen the roo breeding with the leghorns but he ignores the younger pullets.  Is he ignoring them because they are still young?  Will he begin breeding them soon?

My leghorns were for eggs but I got the BO so that I could breed them.

Thanks..

DOGS: 4 Shih Tzu, 1 Papillon, 1 Great Pyrenees

CHICKENS: 1 BO, 2 EE, 2 WLH, 10 blue and splash JG, plus various aged JG, BO, JG/BO and JG/EE chicks, and 8 meaties.

DUCKS: 20 Muscovy ducks: 5 adults, 7 juveniles and 8 ducklings.  6 Pekin ducklings

Thanks sourland.  I wasn't sure if I should move the leghorns.  He is very attentive to them and seems pretty gentle from what I've read about some roos.  gig.gif
