We've been raising these birds for years. Aside from a tendency to heat intolerance, the biggest downside to this breed is the HUGE amount of poop they produce - think turds the size of golf...
We love our Bantam La Fleche. The La Fleche are a rare French breed that can be difficult to find here in the US. They're shiny black plumage and unique V-comb make them stand out at the...
I love mine, my oldest pullet gets bullied a lot by my other girls; so when I come out she runs up to me and sits there until I pick her up. I am a little worried that my roo will be evil.. I...
These birds have been the foundation of our flock. They have stood up to the arid Colorado weather here which means cold winters, hot summers and not much rain so no many plants or bugs. Very...
Acquired these two girls from someone who wasn't supposed to have them in the city. They were still pullets. They lay one egg every other day between the two of them. Have not noted them to be...
They bot look boys, but is still too early to say for sure.I hope they are couple.
Black Leghorns- they are my main attention, White Leghorn,I still have a few Light Brown Leghorns, but am not going to breed them.I keep small flock GS Barred Rocks, small flock New Hampshire's and am starting to think about good SLW. I do not call myself Breeder- I am backyard chicken lover.

If they both start crowing, I will probably cry. I paid $20 for a dozen eggs so I could hatch these and only got these two. Those are some pretty expensive roosters!
My neighbor has a BLRW rooster and he is so nice! He's beautiful too!
With those vibrant colors and red comb, I'd say you have boy's too.
Out of the 3 eggs(I had 7 total and 3 made it) I hatched 2-3 were boys.. I rehomed the two older ones and kept the youngest. Hatching eggs is a gamble with sex, but well worth the experience.
How old are yours? I have 3 that are in the 6-8 week range and I'm trying so hard to figure out what they are! This might give me a good comparison... From what I understand the BLRW are difficult to sex so I'm still holding out hope for a pullet but at this point I've pretty much succumb to the reality that I likely have 3 cockerels.
Mom to 3 ages 4, 3, and 1 - #4 due late December :)
Current flock: 2 RIRs (3 yrs old), 1 BSL (3 yrs old), gifted 3 Blue Laced Red Wyandottes (hoping for at least one pullet!), 2 EEs, and 1 Barneveldor...
Hoping to learn good husbandry and the ways of the past so I can help preserve them for the future ;)
