What to buy for the woman who loves "everything chicken"?

My wife got her first chicks this spring, since then she has been addicted to what I call "chicken crack".  She has been on BYC for a while now and has an encyclopedic knowlege of all things chicken, and she has never been happier.

She has an incubater now and is regularly hatching chicks, but none of her hens have started laying yet.

Her birthday is next month and I know she would love anything chicken related, but I have no idea what to get her.  I don't want to ask her directly because it should be a suprise for her, so I secretly created a BYC account to ask the community she trusts for advise.

Please help me with some birthday gift ideas for my poultry passionate wife.

Thanks,

happyhenpecked

i would get her a shirt with a pic of her first chicken on it our if she drinks coffe a coffee cup. our even get her some egg cartons with yalls last name and farm on it like jacksons farm raised eggs.. she could pass the eggs out to her friends and have her own little box to do so.

Those are great ideas, I love the photo ideas to make custom labels and such and she will love it.

She is also way more practical than me and she would appriciate things she could use like tools for her hobby.  She was talking about egg baskets, she will need some, also she likes smart contraptions that make chores easier or automated.  Any advise on specific things like that would be great.

Hello and welcome to BYC frow.gif If she's a member, maybe you can buy her Platinum or Golden Feather membership? And some other little chicken related things...

How sweet your are.  Since she is hatching chicks she'll need more coops to  raise her brood in.  Hire a crew to get the job done or break out your own power tools and get crackin'.  Maybe one of the breeders here would be able to sell you a coupon for eggs at a later date.  A gift certificate from the local feed store should help feed her addiction.  She also might enjoy chicken magazines to help keep her up to date on the latest trends of chicken raising.

Good luck and have fun!

I was going to suggest a new coop.  Who wouldn't like a new coop!?!?!?!?

I don't know what sort of coop you have, but doesn't everyone want a nice, custom sign with their coop name on it?  There are LOTS of super creative folks on here.  I bet someone would paint you a sign for her.

I have two antique egg baskets that I love - try to find ones that are a little unique (ebay is good place).  Not sure if your coop has one or not, but the auto doors are great - I'd requested one 3 Christmases ago and love it!  Mine is just a drapery motor, timer, and counter weight, not a kit.  Let's see - a subscription to a poultry magazine?   Coop decorations - chicken garden flags, cute chicken signs to hang up in or around the coop (ebay or amazon)... I even have a rooster pitcher that I love!

Caretaker of a lovely mixed flock including: australorp, plymouth rocks, wyandotte, d'uccles, silkies, EEs, andalusian, and a few seramas, plus a golden retriever, great dane, and three cats.
