Colors of baby Silkies - Page 2

Yes, bearded breeds include EEs, Faverolles, Silkies, D'uccles...they all start out with poofy cheeks....then, they turn into beards.  The poofs, or crests, are on the head.  Tufted chickens, like araucanas, have tufts coming out by their ears..they are cute :)

I wasn't even going to try for sex! I have seen so many threads on here about how hard it isI am not even going to worry about that for quite some time! I was wondering about color though. I did think all of them were crested...I didn't know they even came w/o!!

they are supposed to have crest but depending on quality they may have very very small

hdowden...don't take this wrong, but how do you know so much about chickensbow.gif ? How long have you had chickens? I have no hopes of getting that good, but just wondering! I guess I am being nosey but hopefully not too nosey.  Maybe one day I will get a little bit good! big_smile.png

Here's the silkie that we got yesterday, but she doesn't look nearly as fluffy as the rest of the silkies on here. We were told she is about 5-6 weeks old and her feathers are just coming in. Is this accurate? Is she pure silkie? Will she look like the other fluffy silkies that are posted here? And is she even really a "she"? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!!!

It looks like it doesn't have enough feathers. Poor quality maybe? I have one like that last year, she never got enough feathering.

Where did you get it?
