We have a white leghorn hen that went broody a couple of weeks ago, so we decided to go ahead and give her some eggs and let her sit. At the time the weather wasn't that bad, only in the mid 90's on the worst days. But this week the weather is now at 108 for the second day running. We've candled the eggs and they seem to be growing just fine and we've been taking the hen off the nest a couple of times a day making sure she is drinking and eating ok, which she seems to be doing, but we're pretty worried that she'll get too hot in this heat. Their coop where she's nested is in shade for most of the day, but even shade in these temps doesn't help much. Should I set up a fan for her or give her an ice bottle or something just to make sure she doesn't overheat? This is our first time letting a hen go broody so we're pretty ignorant about what we're doing. Any help is appreciated.
