I got my first egg today! - Page 2

I've started looking for the eggs in and around my coop. I'm not expecting (eggpecting) anything for another couple weeks. My girls are about 18 weeks. I had a Americana but she got out and my dog got her, I cried, so there will be no green or blue eggs. Also have an Ancona but I am 98% sure it's a rooster, so no white eggs. The rest are brown egg layers, so I won't really know witch one will be laying first. :P

Update: My Black Australorp laid her first egg 2 days ago and another yesterday. :)

I have 2 cats, 1 Golden Retriever, 2 gold fish, and now 13 chickens. :)

Tough Cookie (T.C.) Cleo, at 6 weeks old, died in April 2012. Kanaliha Cleo, at 9 weeks old, died on May 14, 2013. They are greatly missed.

My pullets were started about 3/31.  No eggs yet.  I am checking every day.  I brought the new chicks down to the main coop tonight.  I walled off half the coop for the new girls. Let the acclimation begin.  I can't wait for the first eggs.  My silver laced wyandotts should be first.  My roo Carl  (the pullet formerly know as Carol) is looking very mature and beautiful!

Congrats on the eggs, keep an egg out for them on the floor though as they don't always get the nest box idea right away, my little girl found one just inside the coop door today it is the first from one of my SWL x big_smile.png

I bet it was from one of your other girls, you said you had a BR and  sexlink?.  My SS lays a medium size cream colored egg.

Good to know, thanks for the info. My BR was hatched on 3/15, she was the only survivor from the 12 eggs I set. The other 2 were purchased from TSC around 2 weeks later, I believe they are are a few days older. So my guess bet is Winnie the sex Link. I don't even know if Jewel is in fact a SS, I was just told that by a couple people. I am going to post a picture of her if you think she is different than an SS let me know.

The red is Winnie and the SS is Jewel

Here are all 3 of them, the BR is Rowdy.

Also we got a second egg today, I am pretty sure it is from a different girl because it is lighter in color than the first one.

Both eggs, on the left is the one from yesterday, and on the right the one from today!
