After reading all of the posts here on Bumblefoot, I was pretty confident in recognizing the signs and knowing what to do....but...
Doing a foot check on my birds today--3 of them had the puffy foot with black scabs! However, none were limping, it didn't seem to hurt them...nothing. I removed the scab and some goo, disinfected everything, blu-coat and a bandage.
My question is: Is this correct? I was expecting loads of pus and pain and limping and a sick chicken
Or, is it something that can resolve on its own and I should leave their feet alone unless I have a sick chicken?
I'm nervous that I removed the scab and opened it up, and if it gets dirty, even with the bandage, it could cause more trouble. My chickens are all normal and healthy and I had no idea anything was going on.
What do you think? Thanks so much!
