I recently picked up a Belgian d'uccle roo quite by chance....i'm looking to get him some friends and was leaning towards silkies.... is this a good cross? not many people in my area have specialty breeds...i know of one lady who occassional has amerucana (spelling?) but other than than nothing but barred rocks, sexlinks and leghorns.... so my question- Belgian d'uccle roo mixed with perhaps white, black or buff silkie?? your thoughts, and pics if you have such a cross....i've never had this breed before....

I am working on a different Silkie project right now but eventually I plan on breeding my Silkie hen to my Mille Fleur rooster. Should be a nice combination I would think. It would take a few generations and crosses but a Mille Fleur Silkie would be very pretty.

First generation Silkie crosses often show only normal or near-normal feathering so you would need to do some backcrosses to get the correct feathering. Their are a few threads on BYC dealing with Mille Fleur/Silkie crosses so you might try to find them.

This link has a photo of a Mille Fleur + Silkie cross. It's down the page a bit.

I have a Porcelain D'Uccle X White Silkie cross. Her name is CuddleBug.

It's the chick behind my silver duckwing OEGB X D'Uccle cross.
