Hey from Alaska

Thread Starter

I am new to chickens. I spent most of my life scared of them, but I decided to get one and try it out. Not sure what breed it is. It's a lighter red/brown with black feathers. Her name is nuggets and I will post a photo of her on the forum soon.

I look forward to getting to know you all, and getting to know my chicken.

Hello and welcome to BYC frow.gif I'm sorry to hear you are scared of chickens and I hope Nuggets will help you overcome that. If you feel up to it, you should consider getting her a chicken buddy. Chickens are very social creatures and will be happier if they have another chicken or 2 to talk to.

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan big_smile.png

Sumi is right - and it is very entertaining to watch the social interactions between chickens.

Home of the world's cutest dachshund, one crazy blue heeler, two cats,
one fat pony, and many (but not too many!) chickens

Can anyone tell me, how many are too many chickens?

Daria: Could you possibly be referring to the harsh light of reality?

What is the hardiest chicken?  Recent times have shown I'm not allowed to have a fourth chicken easily- 2 have died.
