Your statement on circular areas is absolutely true. I suppose I haven't put too much into the picture to really show scale.

I think domes are definitely in the minority on coops but they make a lot of sense. This one actually started out as an experiment in camping shelters (as a complete dome) and found new life as our chicken hutch.

The area is 10x5.  Even with taking out some space due to it being a dome rather than a rectangle, it sounds like a decent space for 3 Seramas to me.

I think the structure is very interesting and a great re-purposing.  I agree that it is probably large enough for three Seramas.  A 10' diameter circle is about 78 square feet.  If it's half a circle then you have about 39 square feet--nearly 40 as someone earlier stated.   How do you get inside?   I also share your concern with shade--layers of shade cloth work best and you have to make sure that they can get out of the sun at any time of day.   Also, any sun that hits the sand will cause it to heat up something fierce, which you probably already know, living in LV.  I like the potted plant and maybe a couple others would be helpful.  Thanks for sharing!

Domes deffinetly aren't unique at all, they are popular for aviaries and such. There are building plate systems made for making such structures. However chicken wire is not secure enough to stop predators at all.

The dome has oodles of room. How much space -- square footage of floor space, length of roosting space -- does the coop have? You could always add a second coop, like a dog house or rabbit hutch if you need more coop space.

I'm late to the party here. Was this constructed from a kit of sorts, or did you weld individual pieces ?? Thanks

Chicken newb . When I grow up, I want a Llama Ranch. Also want to be COMPLETELY off the grid and self sufficient (not in a post-apocalyptic way, just in a tired of hectic lifestyle and cellphone kind of way).

Nope, not a kit. My husband found an equation for building a dome, went to Home Depot and bought the pipe, then cut and prepared the, pieces, then put them together per the equation.
I've told him he should sell kits.

Marc, go google dome aviaries as there are kits already on the market if you wish to make something like this. Be sure to use hardware cloth though, not chicken wire to keep the occupants safe.
