To plant in your chicken run things that they woud enjoy eating or would they demolish it before it ever got a chance to grow to a decent size?

As soon as it sprouted, they would eat it. You could grow stuff for them outside their run, though.

I have 18 chickens, one kitten, 3 dogs, 2 hermit crabs, and live on 20 acres in the country. I am CrAzY about chickens and plan on getting more! I am continually working to better my chicken practices and to better my flocks.

As long as you can keep them off of the garden until after the sprout-stage.   Clover is a nice ground cover that they like to eat.  Alfalfa, parsley, and my raspberry bushes get hit pretty hard all summer long.  There is actually "Chicken Pasture" seed that you can buy online and plant for your chickens.  I'm seriously considering buying some next year.
