By far the biggest raccoon I've ever seen

It's managed to do a good job of killing my flock, last night I actually saw the horrid thing. I'd easily say it's a 17lb coon. It was so big I'm wondering if its pregnant. It managed to eat a nice big meal out of the cage last night so tonight I zip tied a peanut butter jar into the cage so hopefully that will entice it in.

I'm down to one lonely bird now :(

Did you make sure it can't reach the bait from the out side? If a raccoon can get the bait without going in the cage it will.

Yep and this morning trap was set off but it wasn't in it :(

I'm definitely starting to get irritated.

This could be one that is trap shy. That some well meaning soul has relocated. Try a dukes dog proof coon trap. I have had good results with these.

  I buy these for 12.50 each old.gif

Well apparently it managed to finagle the peanut butter jar out of the zip ties. So now I'm going to puncture some holes in it and try it again.

On a really good up note, my one chicken is still alive and well.

Okay 3rd night and this time I zip tied the peanut butter jar, through the jar so it won't move unless you rip the jar off the zip tie. I also added some pork in there for good luck.

Trash runs tomorrow so wish me luck :)

If tonight is a bust, I'm going to try that or the one that snaps across it's body. Saw it posted here in another post, watched a youtube vid and seems pretty simple.
