Where: Lovells Twp. Pavillion (Douglas Park)

When: September 22, 2012

Camping: Yes. Excellent campground right near by. It's rustic, but the parks and rec crew out there do a fantastic job of keeping

                 things clean.

Lodging: Yes. Withing walking distance of the Twp. park.

Cost: To attend the actual gathering at the Twp. park, there is no cost. Just bring a dish to pass. If you are going to stay over, then

obviously you are responsible for your own expenses.

As many of you know I have been tearing my hair out trying to find a centrally located venue that is bird friendly. Well, I FINALLY found one (should have just started with this one to begin with). I called today and spoke with a friend of mine (Cindy, Lovells Twp. Clerk) and I explained the whole sorted story to her about what I have been going through trying to find a gathering place for our group that is bird friendly. Her response was "well, you are all welcome here. There is no charge for the pavilion and if you need anything let me know". Well, after picking my jaw up off the floor, I double checked with her that it was ok that we brought in our birds and without hesitation, she said yes. So, we are good to go! yippiechickie.gif Now, lets get on with planning the fun stuff!

This is GREAT!!   as far as I know I can come, I am thrilled,,,, I have a big tent if any ladys would like to camp with me,,, DH will not be coming as he has a  Black Powder shoot that week-end.... If I can trade vehicles with him I will be able to bring a couple kayaks,

DH loves to fly fish also and has made his own flies for a long time, he loves his guns more though big_smile.png

I will bring a veggie tray and dip,...       do we want to take a donation for plates, cups, silver? or every one bring their own,,,no one should get stuck with cost of those things...oldest daughter may come, she may want some pullets don't think she cares what breed.

one DH 4 great kids 9 wonderful grandchildren, 1 cat, 2 roosters and 30 hens......,Living my dream. Life is good!!  retirement is GREAT!

Sounds great!! yesss.gif

Plenty of kayaking opportunities too. Mmmmmm, veggie trays :). Sounds good right now, lol! Late night munchies. I was thinking, as far as silverware, plates, cups, etc. go, since I don't have to worry about the expense of the pavilion, I'll cover thecost of the plates and such. No big deal from the dollar tree and I'll just set out a donation jar and if anybody wants to throw a quarter or two in there, then that would be great. If not, it's no big deal. If I end up with more money than I spent, then I'll just set aside the difference for next year.

Still not sure what I'm going to be bringing. I'm going to have to see where I'm at with the birds when the time comes. Hopefully I'll have some fun stuff to bring :).

If you donate plates, napkins, and plasticwear that could be considered your dish to pass also.  At CS each person brought a unique item.  Some it was drinks, some food, some dessert, I took 3 watermellons.  There was a food thread so their were no duplicates.  There was also an attendance thread to see how many people were coming.  When people showed up with a swap item for the table they filled out a paper with their name and it went into a jar.  This kept it legit so each person got at least one item in return.  Name tags were handed out also.

I hope I can go!

This is just so great! I go away for 4 days and you get it all set up! I just did a mapquest and it's essentially still only 90 minutes away from me even though technically it's closer. Lots of twisty roads from my direction. And it looks like DH is definitely coming!

Anish do you know if the pavilion has electricity in case some one has a crock pot?

I assume it has picnic tables?

Ok, time to start a notebook for this, lol! Lots of great ideas! I just have to try to remember them and keep all of this straight. fl.gif

Thanky you for the great ideas! Anybody want to volunteer to keep track of a food thread, an attendance thread, and a wanted/for swap thread???

I am not sure about the electricity, but I can find out. Mmmm, end of september IS the perfect time of year for crock pot food. I LOVE fall! I might just have to make some cream of chicken and wild rice soup. There are picnic tables there, I know there is electricity at the pavilion, just not sure if they keep the electricity on or not.

Glad to hear DH can make it! Looking forward to meeting you both in person :).

okay, I assume since we can't really reserve the pavilion because it's free that it's first come first served? So is anyone planning to get there early enough to call dibs? And shall we pick a start time for everyone else? The Lansing CS runs 10-3, I don't know why the end time is 3 unless it's what is required by the park itself, but I'm thinking 10-4 maybe? Any ideas? This is next month so we don't want it to get away from us.

And did we officially decide on Sept 22?

Sorry I didnt get back with you sooner. Went camping for the weekend and had no wifi. If I cant swing calling in a favor as far as reserving the pavilion then I'm sure I can be there early enough to mark our territory, lol. I'm thinking maybe start at noon. I know one of the things that kept me from going to Lansing was how early I would have had to get up in order to get there in time. So, I was thinking that if we can move it back to 12:00, then maybe more of the further away people will be able to make it. As far as the until..... I figure that when it peters out it peters out and if it starts getting late, then whoever is left is welcome to come back to our campsite and sit around the campfire. 22nd is the official date. I'd like to get more activity on this thread. The other thread showed a bunch of people who were interested and only a few are over here.

One thing that I would like to ask is that if anyone wants to do games, then I am not the one you want organizing them, lol! Someone else is going to have to run the show on that one. I am and have always been terrible at putting together games. Soooooooo, anybody interested???? :)
