Again, it seems like whoever you got them from was looking for money and not to better the breed itself.

You need to have ear tufts and be tailless to be considered a true Araucana in my opinion. The colour isn't a big deal to me.

okay, but they have 100's of araucanas, and they are rumpless and tufted except for a few, and mine happened to be one of them.

aoxa: do you know what the tufts are made of and if aruacanas can grow the tufts later in life?

my easter egger only got tufts when she was 11 weeks old. It is still considered a pure project colour araucana. I your breeding a breed (espeicially the araucana) It will be quite hard and you will definitly end up with some "not the best quality" but they are still pure.

happy dad of a GSP and a BLRW and FBCM  and a WL and a BR and a BA and a SS and an EE and a GLC

Not according to the standards. They have to be in those recognized colours.

Otherwise I could say any EE is a project Ameraucana.

And EEs don't usually get tufts. They normally get muffs and beards. Not saying it isn't possible, but I haven't seen any before.

only ask for colours that have already been registered. but lavender ameraucanas/araucana are thought to be true ameraucanas/araucana because they are just a colour variation that havent been accepted yet by the APA (JUST LIKE THE MARANS) . So if you dont think that lavendar ameraucanas/araucanas are true then you dont think marans are a true breed

no, just like the typical true araucana (rumpless and tufted) not necessarily the real true aruacana, i have one just not a typical true araucana...

The colour variation should be accepted sooner or later.

ETA: Not sure where you are going with the marans topic. They are an accepted breed by the APA. hmm.png
