salmon Faverelles chick- Boy or girl? or to soon?

It might be too soon to tell. Watch the wing color, usually by 3-4 weeks you can tell if it's turning black. My two favorelle pullets do have a lot of dark grey on their chests, with flecks of grey/black throughout their feathering, and so far I am certain they are pullets. They're a little over a month. I've seen roos at the same age which are covered in a lot of black feathering, both on their wings, and on their back.

It is too early to tell, but I'm guessing roo so far. It looks like a roo face to me. To me, a roo has an angry look about his eyes, more comb in the front, and a hook to his beak that a pullet doesn't have. But that's just watching my own chicks/chickens. I'll be very curious if my guess is correct or not.

I have read that you can easily tell by their coloring. But I have found that it is not as simple as that. I have 3 that are almost 2 months old and 5 that are 2 weekss old. I have dark feathers on what look like (by combs) roos as well as pullets. I am just hoping I have some of each!

Give it about 2 more weeks, I can tell with the favorelles by 4 weeks for sure. The coloring coming in the wings will be the dead give away. I've had some girls with darker coloring, especially hatchery quality ones. So I'd wait a bit longer.

I have been watching mine and the one that is the roo (shipped as roo) is just now beginning to grow a tail. The pullets tails are over an inch long. I have a couple of pullets that are dark but the roo is steadily getting more dark feathers. My oldest ones are 2 months old.
