Lovely hen, is she an Ameraucana?  I would make a comment about you both sporting your winter face protection but I don't want to be misinterpreted as vulgar.  This color pattern and it's many variations is my favorite, I think.  I really like black hens, too...

Stunning!  What a dramatic plant.  When I moved down to VA from NJ, I saw magnolias for the first time.  It was one of the few things about the south that I liked right away.  (Much of the rest grew on me, though.)

Found this place and although it only has 4.4 acres, it's incredibly private and the house while not old has an old farmhouse feel to it and so much room (after years of being in cramped 1 bedroom apartments in the Baltimore-DC area) that I had to get it.

The place I have now in VA is 3.17 acres.  It was the same kind of compromise, but I love it and it's really private.  We have been looking for something with enough acreage that we can build multiple dwellings as needed for aging parents, siblings, etc.  We actually have a contract pending now on a place in Newton Co., Arkansas! ( celebrate.gif ).  It is 33 acres which border National Forest with three springs (one of which is still running in the insane drought they are having) and a tiny solar cabin (16' x12' w/ loft and deck) that we can live in while building our permanent cabin.  You can walk right down to the headwaters of the Buffalo River!  When we move, it will be me and my DH, his close friend who is a great contractor, and my DH's elderly dad.  Right now, the plan is that I'll be going off to school and the three men will be getting various cabins built, gardening, and caring for my chickens.  It's going to be an insane half-decade.

I think they look normal for eggs that have been laid on their side as opposed to sitting upright in a turner.  I almost always use a turner, so I'm not 100%...

Your new place sounds great. What do you plan to study in school?

Welcome! Old is what you think it is. Don't let any of us define you. We're just looking for "mature(ish)" conversation. Where are you located?

Did Dsqard ever tell us how the engagement went? Did I miss that while my parents were here?

I love the name of this thread!  I'm thinking I belong here.  big_smile.png

I could start with a nice coool/cold picture.  It has been so hot here this year, and not much rain, but a lot of fires, which I think I saw DD is on here..so she knows about the fires.

We do get our fair share of snow, and it is hard at times, but I don't do heat..in my old age.  big_smile.png big_smile.png

Had to make a path to go down the back stairs

 Can't even see the coop!

I think the mail man came, just had to get of the truck.

My dog didn't mind the snow..played in it for a while

So, I thought I may as well.  I needed help up..I remember yelling, help.. :)

I can't even imagine that this is just right around the corner.  Right now, just happy to

have the air on .

My hubby is retired.  He just sold a 44 mag.  Nice gun, but not being used so much..so, he will get and air compressor for his shop now.  :)
