Here is something else that is very hypocritical regarding carbon footprint, and fossil fuel reduction.  In Florida, it is totally illegal to go off grid for home electric.  They just arrested 24 people in a community that was specifically built to rely totally on solar power, with generator back up if ever needed.  This is not a community of crackheads that can't afford to pay their electric bill.  This is what one of our governors did to help the energy companies here.


Sorry to burst your bubble, but it's not true that it's illegal to be off the grid.

It is illegal to use the city sewer system without paying to. It is illegal to not have running water in a home. It is illegal to hook up any electric system in any way you want to.

All of those things are illegal for yours and your neighbors safety.

Anyone that wants to live off-grid can, but they're required to follow basic safety laws.
