Ameraucanas over EE's and a few marans. They are 2 and a half months old now. I really like this blue clean faced girl. Her neck feathers have some light brown in them, but the body is a solid blue. Really pretty girl. I hope I get a real pretty egg! :)
THe hens lay nice BIG eggs, pretty blue. Blue Boy is a new rooster so I hope his daughter's eggs will be nice, too.
As I am understanding genetics better, red can leak thru. I'm am going to confuse Blue BOys offspring with a group of olive eggers from Donna RIppy. THEy look exactly alike.
In my last hatch I got 3 chicks that are white with black flecks over the back. THe mothers carry dominant white.
I didn't set many eggs as they were in high demand. But I have 6 blue chicks, and I have another blue rooster waiting for them to grow up!
I like the rooster, he never gives me a problem, never minds me fussing with his girls. ANd the EE girls are sweet as pie. My boys have named most of them. THey would sit in the brooder FOR HOURS playing with the police, the FBI and NCIS agents. To this day they can catch those birds better than I can.
