The only rooster I can hear is one in a pen on the back patio fattening on grain and milk.
I wish I could hear them. I haven't used the baby monitor in a while. I need to put it back out there.
I've been digging a trench with the help of my son and one of his friends. It is going to one of the chicken coops to lay some conduit and run electricity. I ran electric to the breeder complex a couple years ago but haven't connected the head end because I was waiting to get this run finished. I'll have to drill through the brick wall of my carriage house to bring the electric to my runs.
I hope to have 7 housing units wired. The 8th one doesn't need it. If I can get this done in the next few weeks I'll have warm circulated water during freezing weather.
It will also be a pleasure to do away with the extension cords all over the yard. And have actual light switches in coops rather than plugging lights in or pressing buttons on the fluorescent starters to get light.
Wish me luck.
I violated a few rules of beekeeping.
One is never go into the hive without a veil.
Also, one should always use a smoker.
You definitely don't want to get stung in late summer or fall when the venom is much more potent.
I had been in the hive the day before with no problems and all I wanted to do was add a feeder to the top so I wasn't planning on disturbing them but they were pretty agitated.
Ready for a real ugly picture?
