Bunny, yeah, she's pretty feisty. She kept trying to peck our hands when we were stitching her up. And, about an hour or two after the incident, she laid an egg.
Ended up needing to put in about 10 stitches though, super glue would not have been enough to cover a 2x3 inch hole.
Warning: Chicken wound (Click to show)
Only after pictures this time, didn't think to photograph before.
She had two small scratches on the left side, but this right side was the worst. A fistful of feathers had been torn out, and there was a huge hole in the side, but the muscle membrane was mostly intact, just one little spot where it was punctured. Should heal up nicely if she doesn't develop an infection. We cleaned with a Betadine-saline solution, sprayed loads of Vetericyn in there, stitched it, and applied some Vetramil on top. The left side was just cleaned, and some Vetramil applied on top.
Also, the hawk seems to have mainly focused on her wings, since all of her flight feathers have been yanked out. Or then she's just put up one heck of a fight. She was really hard to catch with so short wings. The wings themselves didn't seem to have any wounds or be broken.
