TJ's lay white eggs. The brown to tan feather color is on their backs and not much of it.
Chicks are mainly white I think I saw a black feather earlier but not seeing it now.
Was going to post a pic. But editor isn't cooperating. Try later. I thought I had lost the last TJ's cross chick last night. It was the last to hatch and I put her with the hen last night. No sighting of her when feeding hen and chicks. When I stood back to watch I could see its feet wiggling in hens feathers.
I have 15 pullets from my NYD hatch--They are a mix of Whole Foods and Trader Joes. So far, it looks like 4 of them lay white eggs. The rest are tinted brown.
Leghorns and I assume the Hy-Line 36 hens, have a brown suppressor gene. If that is passed on, it should suppress any brown color genes in the CCLs. Sadly, most of them do not lay true blue eggs.
