Chicks won't stop chirping

I got two new chicks yesterday, and they will not stop chirping, they do it very loudly, I was holding them and they were fine, they fell asleep on my lap. They have food, water and a heat lamp. One of them also keeps jumping at the sides of the brooder. I think they are about four days old. Is this normal behavior? This is only my second time raising chicks, but the last ones didn't do this.

It could be because you only have 2, chicks feel safer in larger groups, also if they were initially hatched by mum this will stress them as they want to get back but they will eventually get used to it.

I know mine chirp quite a bit if they are cold or in distress. When I finally got the heat lamp to the right height to keep them warm they calmed down and were quiet. I hope you figure it out. I had two and they were fine just the two of them. I hope you figure it out! Could be they miss your lap!

Mine chiro like crazy about 930 to remind me its their bed time lol. I have to go turn off their light and cover their box then they are happy again

2 white leghorn hens, 1 buff orpington hen, 1 rhode island red hen, 1 cochina hen, 2 arucana easter eggers chicks and 1 moody white leghorn roo!!!

Momma to kenzie, gill. Main hen to oddball, sleepy, noodle, dumpling, pepper, pixie dust, alice and cooper

Ours chirp as long as they're awake. Mostly quietly unless they get worked up and then they'll chirp super loudly. It's what they do. They'll do it for the first few weeks.
