we keep about 60-70 free range chickens and most of them arent that old, some are only just gone past point of lay... all of a sudden we went from having about 30 eggs a day to no eggs a day and i have no idea whats wrong with them.. they are acting normal even though we have had a few ill and die and the eggs arent being hidden anywhere...does anyone have a clue what might have caused this...

welcome-byc.gif  Has anything changed in their 'world'?  Different feed, predator attack, new coop, anything?

Wow, that is a huge drop. No eggs? How are you sure they aren't hidden? Still, even if you did have rogue layers you'd still have a few of the 30 or so laying where they ought.

Curious to see what is it!

I'm having a similar problem except I have only 5 laying hens at the moment.Am lucky to get one or two eggs a day.Only changes they've had is one of them gone broody so I've separated her and two new girls been added in. But they were able to see them behind a wire for some of the quarantine,so I don't think it's that idunno.gif

mine aren't laying good either, I think it's the heat

We normally get 10 eggs a day, and yesterday it was very very hot out and we only got 5.   I think the heat is getting to the girls.   But, going from what you normally get to none is weird.

nope nothing has changed and i dont think any predators have attacked them cause there is an electric fence around about 3 acres of land... they stopped laying before the weather changed its been happening for about a month now....our ducks have also stopped laying ... its very odd and we have never had anything like this happen to out girls before...

When we had  a huge drop in eggs, we discovered a huge lice/mite infestation, have you checked them for this ?barnie.gif

about two to three weeks, but our infestation was really bad, we lost two chickens with it, had to change to wooden coop to a plastic one, once we got the mites and lice

gone, girls almost immediately started laying again, took us close on two weeks to get rid of pests....
