Secondly, you can see that the topics are general and allow and encourage wide participation in topics that are, for the most part, non confrontational. Therefore more people are willing to participate without a fear of being challenged. Thirdly, the threads usually start as a pretty insignificant (and sometimes even foolish) premise and are allow to just free flow into a wide variety of topics that are usually not political or religious. So basically, most of the really big threads are just fee flowing and free wheeling and, for the most part are pretty funny. Lastly, and probably most importantly, these large threads are so general and free wheeling that you do not need to even know what came before. All you really need to do is begin your comment and become a part of the conversation that is then taking place. But like the weather in Maine don't rely on the topic to remain the same for too long, it will change on a dime.

Spook and Don, thank you for putting into print the thoughts that scramble around in my mind.  By the way, I have entered tomato nirvana.  clap.gif

Or does Capvin count as two? Because that was a very well thought out and worded reply.

Personally I, like Spook, try to bring a smile or a word of encouragement to threads. I also answer what poultry related questions I feel that I can answer in a helpful way. I greet a few new people. Pat a few shoulders. Even take up for people I don't even know if I feel they are getting a little discouraged.

I love BYC. I can't read and reply to all threads, but if it catches my eye I'll take a peek. I enjoy the freinds I've made here and some have became very close freinds in real life. I see no certain people forming clicks or select groups, I see a ton of people interacting, learning, laughing, and hopefully having a good time. I don't agree with everything posted, don't even understand a lot of it, but I accept it as part of the wonderful e-world that is BYC.

I've started threads that got zero replies. I've started threads that got thousands of replies. Like Kevin said, you just never know what's going to happen. That's part of the magic of BYC.

We've got farmers with thousands of birds, back yard breeders with hundreds of birds, suburbanites with a dozen hens, city folk with a house chicken, and lots of nice people who don't even own a chicken. From young kids just learning to type to people over 100 years old. Rich people, poor people, crazy people, smart people, mean people, sweet people, old timers and newbies....

To qoute Toby Kieth... "I love this ... ummmm.... BYC"

So if you want to have fun... just jump on in. Start posting. We'll be here to greet you, help you and socialize with you. And somewhere along the journey... you'll realize you are part of our ever changing, ever growing family.

I'm not sure if we refuted Matthew, or proved his point. idunno.gif

Either way, everyone is welcome on our threads. We enjoy new people. I've said this a thousand times if I've said it once, but having others join in on our nonsense is what makes it fun. If we hi-jack your "Productive thread" and it annoys you, by all means, let us know and we'll move along to people who can take a joke.

PS, can I have two Royal Lawyers? Capvin would make an awesome addition to the Kingdom...

You might have noticed, I'm not all there myself.

Can the Kingdom afford two attorneys?  Goodness knows there are times you could use that many.  gig.gif

He did pop in on the Green Club thread. I offered to let him have gray for his color, but he didn't seem to like it very much . . . .hu.gif

I believe that gray is already his color - hasn't moved up to Just for Men yet.  lau.gif gig.gif lau.gif
